I don't doubt that my intense dislike of the little terrorists is due to being horribly bullied at school, but that doesn't stop it being any less of a real feeling. When I encounter groups of children in the wild I do sometimes verge on panic attack feelings. Once, around this time of year actually, I was out during the day running in the woods near where we lived at the time and there were several bands of school age kids out there. One load of the feral little shits deliberately blocked the path I was running on when they saw me coming, another group reluctantly cleared the way apart from who stepped back just as I was about to pass him, nearly knocking me over (while looking right at me, it was clearly deliberate). I ran on until I found some grown ups and asked if they were responsible for the groups of kids, they only said 'hmmm maybe, there are several schools with kids out here today' and gave zero fucks when I told them what had happened. I suppose when they're corralled in a school playground I'm probably safe from them, but I know that there will still be some of them not safe from the others. I sometimes think about the evil bitches who made me suicidal as a tween and wonder if they're still as awful or if they grew out of it, or if they ever realised what monsters they were. |
