I'm thinking along those lines too, Dave. There are also always ways and means out there to stay pleasantly occupied without spending much money :)

I can’t wait till I can retire. 😊 Only about 25-30* years to go

*(Depending on how much the ladies retirement age gets changed between now and then)

Probably just one or two of the residents, otherwise I can't wait to get away from there and forget al about it.

I’m still off work 😀 Although I am awaiting result of a job interview. I still don’t miss my old work. One thing I’ve found, which I like, is waking up. No alarm clocks needed, not even after a beer too many. All it needs is for me to wake up is for it to get light outside. Even after a late night I wake up fresh😀

The hours for the new job I’ve applied for are nothing like Policing, otherwise I wouldn’t have applied.

Good luck with your job application, Dave. Hope it’s good news. Switching to supply teaching has been good for me. I’m now looking forward to the Easter break but not because I’m completely exhausted!

We’ve had a couple of holidays and weekends away since stopping. Hopefully we’ll be fully fresh for the next holiday instead of recovering.

Bravo Dave, I hope it goes well.

I've been off work for two months since finishing my last role. The only thing I miss is the income.

I suspect what you miss varies from one post or job to another. When I gave up my first career to be a stay-at-home mum, I hugely missed my colleagues and the office banter and laughs we fitted in around the work, and I also missed being a responsible person dealing with specialised problems. Being at home with two delightful little boys was worth it though.

Later, when I started (and after some years left) a different career, I missed my immediate colleagues (though we still meet up once a month for a meal, over ten years later) and the feeling that I was doing a worthwhile job helping disadvantaged children get a fairer crack of the whip. What I never missed for a second were the cockwombles who were our overlords and the shit they dumped on us.

And then, I started teaching. What have I missed about that? The feeling of relentlessly banging your head against a brick wall of weak leadership, unrealistic expectations from the same nest of LA cockwombles as before, aggressive parents, being spat at by children... I have kept no contact with colleagues from that career. With very few exceptions, the adjectives lazy, incompetent, bullying and homophobic spring to mind. It's the only job that I have no regrets *at all* about giving up.
