I assume there's a 2017 version of this thread if someone can boing it for me :)

Anyone know if the relay is running in 2017? I can find last years post about it ( westhighlandwayrace.org ) that was made around Feb 2016 but can't find anything for this year. Any help appreciated!

Aha! Brilliant, that's spot on. Thanks, Sjjh :)

Now just need to convince colleagues that it is indeed an excellent idea.

Of course it is I've done it twice myself, last leg both times.

Love to watch some of the main race, great experience.

That's a great endorsement :)

I'm fairly new at my work so no idea if anyone does trail running or anything very far - there are definitely a few run-commuters though, maybe I can talk them into it :)

zp, none of the legs are particularly far, but they're probably reasonably brutal for non-trail runners, and potentially hazardous for speedy road runners who don't always realise how much they can hurt themselves if they don't stay upright (I've seen a few spectacular dents and scrapes from the relay).

But sjjh s right, it's excellent fun, you get to see the front end run past while you're getting ready to go at Tyndrum, then pass a few of them en route to FW.

And I get to shout at you at Kinlochleven. :-)

IanS had a nasty fall coming down into Kinlochleven when he was supporting me in 2010. As Duchess said, it's rocky and you have to watch your footing. Enjoy all. I'll be up there support crewing for KJTindall. We'll probably be there a bit after the relayers have started though, so good luck and enjoy to anyone doing the relay. Where's our WHW 2017 thread? :-) G

I'm not sure my opening gambit will be 'none of the legs are particularly far', that's going to make me look odd ;) But that's a great point, should make it clear it gets a bit technical in places. Thanks both.
