In a rush at lunchtime today.

Packet of mixed lettuce on a plate, topped with a can of tuna in olive oil, squeeze of lemon, some pickled chilli beetroot and a large handful of Bombay mix.

Some dried dates for afters.

In too much of a rush to pack my sandwiches separately one day, the marmite sandwich leaked into the lemon-curd one. It was ... a taste experience, but I was hungry and nobody died :-)

I used to work with a bloke that had a tin of sardines in tomato sauce every day for lunch.

We had a student on work placement at my first work place when I started. He had corned beef sandwiches every day. When I asked him why (he was from Hong Kong iirc and a lovely gentle lad) he said "because the meat fits the bread"

I used to work with a bloke who used to buy the cheapest loaf he could and the cheapest meat (usually luncheon meat). He would then go home, make the entire loaf-worth of sandwiches and then freeze them. Every morning he would take a round out and put it in his lunchbox.

That is one of the reasons I eat corned beef too.

I once saw a TV programme where men appeared to be living with their mothers in law for a couple of weeks, or something like that. One of them made a month's worth of ham/cheese sandwiches for their kids' packed lunches and froze them, taking them out in rotation. I think the idea was to save both time and money but i felt very sorry for the kids.

I was one of those kids
My Mum made ham sandwiches in bread rolls and froze them - if it was cold in the classroom they would still be frozen in the middle at dinner time :(
