Hello,

I'm writing a little explainer article about WAVA, for the uninitiated.

There's a calculator on the site here:

http://www.fetcheveryone.com/training-calculators-wava.php

I know that occasionally it's thrown up some discrepancies, particularly in the womens times (as the WAVA data for these has changed in recent times, as people like Mrs Jigs continue to push the boundaries of awesomeness).

I'd like to find any rough edges with the calculator, and tidy them up before the article goes live - so if you could have a play, that'd be right decent of you.

Thanks
Ian

Looks fine to me. I know some people debate the general statistical validity of WAVA, but your representation of it seems as good as anyone's? :-)G

Ran a few for the blokes section and it seems to be coming up fine.

What is your "gold standard" to test the fetch calculator against? I had seen glitches in the past with the one here, so I tend to use this one ... howardgrubb.co.uk

HG is where I've downloaded my copy of the factors, but if Fetch is differing from any other online calculator, I'm interested to hear about it.

Did a few comparisons and they seem to match exactly. :-)

The HG calculator does have the advantage of distinguishing between track and road for some distances...

e.g.
40 year old man, 20 min 5K:

5000m (track) ... 66.75 %
5K (road) ... 68.25%

tenths of a second for track events would help smoothing of WAVAS over the shorter distances.

A reverse calculator would also be good ... to get 75% at 10K, I need to run xx:xx time.

Not sure if this is what you're asking - but when I put in my recent half time it gave me a higher WAVA score than appeared against the race time when I put it in - not by much, 60.31 as against 59.85 (or thereabouts).
