Cheers Sodding, I've found the very same at my local go outdoors...and will be collecting it tonight before a muddy hillwork session with my club.

Is the Montane (minimus or featherlite) good for breathability? I've currently got a lightweight Ron Hill and I sweat buckets in it. I tend to get warm during runs anyways, but at the moment unless it is tipping down, I'd rather go without.

Any thoughts on the Gore AS series?

Montane Featherlite isn't waterproof; it's only windproof. It'll be highly breathable but won't keep anything more than a bit of mist out

Update. Purchased it, ran 3.7 miles in steady rain up and down a hilly wood (figure 8 reps over 25 mins) and whilst it didn't keep me bone dry, it kept the bulk of the rain off me. So it did what it said on the tin, water resistant not waterproof. Lovely and light too, hardly noticed it.

I think a lightweight windproof is one of the most useful and versatile pieces of kit you can buy ;-)

£140 is steep... where were you looking that charged so much? I paid under £100 for mine.

Montane are excellent tops, however read the spec, some are only windproof etc. Montane are based not far from me and they used to have a factory shop. used to get seconds for £15 in the featherlites. shame they stopped it!

I honestly think that you cannot be waterproof and sweat free, as long as you are warm is my main criteria.

Paulo, I started with Montane's own website for that price. Clearly if I try elsewhere it may have been cheaper, still, the one I found suits me down to the ground. And yes, I realise the one I got was only water resistant, and not waterproof, but that was fine too. I understand that waterproofing comes at a price.

well,

It's pouring down here in the New Forest, just about to go out for a slow 16 miles wearing a Ron Hill Trail Microlight jacket... Might be investing in something else by the end of the day!

I'm after a running top, light in weight, waterproof, that can be folded up and take next to no spa...
