I need to work something out. I have a couple of ideas for two loops but would like another one or two so I don't get too bored!! ;)

Despite my claim on the page before, the site has just updated:

We are working hard to plan the return of mass participation events following the success of the rollout of the national vaccination programme.

Sadly, however, it is not possible to stage the Vitality London 10,000 in central London on its scheduled date of Monday 31 May 2021, so we are looking for an alternative location and date later in the year. (Please note the virtual Vitality London 10,000 will go ahead during its scheduled window of Saturday 29 May to Sunday 6 June.)

Please check back later for more information and keep an eye on our social media channels for further updates.

For the VVLM I'm definitely thinking of a meandering linear route from eg Tewkesbury, back home. 26 miles round the 'burbs of Cheltenham would drive me potty I think.

I haven't started route planning yet. I'm not even sure at this point if I'll be running solo or with buddies. It's very hilly here so I'm looking for the flattest route. I think I'll stay fairly close to home so I can get drink and loo breaks.

Parkrun sent me an email encouraging me to sign up for a virtual Vitality London 10k. I'm afraid I'm not really inclined to pay £19 to relieve them of a medal and T shirt.

It has suddenly struck me that I want to do a lot of running near Gloucester this year, and there is also a lot of flat land around there as well as hills.

Oh really Chris? Why Gloucester in particular? If yo're looking for flat, the canal towpath is a good place to look.

Perhaps we could have a run together?

Because I have run as far as Kemble, and my brother has moved to Hereford, so I want to fill in that gap.

Stroud to Gloucester plus a loop out to the NW is the right distance and virtually all canalside or riverside.

Happy to meet.

Another friend has recommended canal paths for training. I've mainly been doing hilly country lanes so maybe I'll use the canals for my longer runs. Can get pretty boggy at times, though.
