If it was easy then everyone would do it.

It's only a race for those at the front. I plan on doing my best and soaking up every minute. Good, bad, funny, emotional .... all of them. This is MY marathon and no-one else's that I'm running.

We are ALL going to rock this.

Reading some of the earlier posts I realise how lucky I am to be able to do my long runs with mates - it makes such a difference. Even better when we all go for a post run milkshake at our local Shakeaway (although quite what the staff make of us is anyones guess...)

First 20 of the plan this Sunday at Wymondham - I always find running somewhere different to normal helps pass thetime on the longer runs - and you can usually find a few people to have a bit of a chat with on the way round.

I had to google shakeaway Jamie. I love milkshakes. Very good as recovery drinks. I'm lucky that I can do some (but not all) long runs with pals/club mates. Planning 22 in the hills this Sunday with club. Have managed to do MP pacier long runs with club mates who are quicker to help pull me along. But I never mind a long run by myself either. It's part of the joy of running for me. To be able to run for a long distance and a long time, it's what I do it for. After marathon nonsense is over, I want to do more ultras. Now that is a proper long run! :-)G

that's one of the biggest problems with my long runs that I do them on my own - 3+ hours of my own company isn't wonderful

I wouldn't be so sure GM :-)
I do wish there was some way to get some company, but the clubs round here that do long runs on a Sunday are way too speedy for me to tag along and Sunday's for church anyway

I know what you mean about lonely runs HB :( I have the same trouble with the club runs. I had hoped to run to the chosen meeting place, doing the shortest loop with appropriate paced runners and then running home. It hasn't worked out as well as I'd like but has given occasional company for at least part of the run.

I need to not be too far from home in case kids need me and fairly early on Sat or Sun otherwise I'd drive up run with you - and struggle to keep up!

I now drag my OH out on his bike for company on my LSR. I also have a place to aim for, a sight to see along the way.

Reminds me, I need to tell VLM I've moved...
