Was too late for the exchange for Sunday, is anyone going to support? Was thinking I could come along to cheer on the Greenway somewhere :-)

Diogenes - I was worried about myself! Not in 10 marathons have I ever felt so bad!!!

Glad we could help, D2D. Like Dio says we were starting to worry as we didn't spot you going past at 13 so weren't even sure you'd made it that far at one stage.

You should feel a bit better about your 3.54 though. My only mara was a 3.56 and I didn't have a lie down (although if ogee had let me I might have done!).

Well done on getting through it.

Cheers Nellers, the sign was a bit confusing in my 22 mile haze though as I think it said 'FETCH POINT' and then had an arrow pointing right - I nearly veered off the course down a side-alley! But somehow I think the right arrow meant straight on... ;-)

That coke was heaven :-)

Thanks to all the wonderful Fetchpoint Supporters + Nellers and the Team 5 crew. I had a fantastic day yesterday. Knowing there would be cheers at mile 13 and 22 gave me much needed focal points and my heart rate shot up (as did my pace) when I saw and heard you guys at mile 13! I was pretty nervous about this race due to an abdominal strain/sports hernia type thing that I have been nursing since January and only training 2 or 3 times a week since then. But with a steady pace and great support I managed to stick to my plan to come in under 4.30 at around 4.25. I know exactly what D2D means about the noise and intensity, but I actually loved it and found it a pretty mind-blowing and unique running experience.

p.s. thanks for my goodie bag of jaffa cakes and squidgy sweets!

D2D - I dont know what your target time was for this race but looks to me that you may have gone off too fast, you did the 1st 10K at 3hr 13min pace.

Where are you getting that from Brian?

I did go off too fast yes - but I didn't know how long the battling for space was going to last...

I always tend to go off too fast in races but usually it evens out. It just happens that the race atmosphere caused me to completely freak out and meant all my pacing was out as I literally had to talk myself into just getting round. I kept stopping from about 16 miles onwards. It was a real nightmare, just glad it's all over.

D2D your 5k splits are on the VLM website, I had you listed in the runners I was tracking and think you had something like a 34 minute positive split for the second half.

At least you've done it early on in your running carreer and can stick to what you know you like now :0)
