Some of you may be aware that a group of Fetchies have been participating in a virtual South West Coast Path event (see separate thread) which was unusual in that it was open to a limited field of 300 and had everyone starting on the same date. This made for great community and camaraderie among the participants. The organiser is Winding Paths and the platform they use has really good mapping which allows you to see how other identifiable participants are doing.

Winding Paths are assessing interest in a similar event for 2021. If you think this might be of interest, please go to their FB poll and vote Yes. Thanks!

Update: Winding Paths Virtual Challenges, who organised the virtual SWCP, will be launching a new event of about 700 miles in length starting on 1 Feb. It will be on a trackable map (but the organiser hasn't told me where it is yet, I'm expecting somewhere overseas) and will be open for 12 months.

More details are expected later today, so I'll update then, hopefully with a link.

Has anyone entered the Conqueror virtual Appalachian Trail event? I always thought I'd take six months out to do this IRL when I retire, so it has a certain appeal. I'm wondering though how it is that it is billed by Conqueror as being 1,968 miles when the real thing is nearly 2,200 miles.

(Possibly a good thing that what Dr S might describe as a slight OCD tendency is causing me not to enter on account of this discrepancy.)

Once I've taken the train from Vancouver to San Diego it might go up the priority list.

Hillbillies and twisted ankles I suspect are more of a concern than bears and snakes.
