Anyone else running this? A nice flat half but I suspect that some of the rural roads might be liable to floods or mud.

I am. It won't be a pb effort. I'm not from the area so I don't know what conditions are like.

If you asked me what I wanted from a race it wouldn't be good toilets, great goody bag or the medal, it'd be just that I got my time and the distance was right. Shame about today but apparently there wasn't even an announcement at the start.

The race director did actually talk to us on the front row. He said something like "left at the junction, right on to the main road". We duly went that way following the lead car and lead bikes. Unfortunately the marshals on the first corner got it into their heads that we had to go right. There was a guy telling us to turn around an go back but the first 5 were already away. I turned round as instructed, overtook most of the rest of the field and eventually ran over 14 miles in 77.35. Pity as in those conditions on a flat course there would have been plenty of PBs.

A big arrow sign at the junction would have saved any confusion.

Got something to say?
