We make these, really nice and it makes lots. Freezes well so can be made in advance.

I don't think I've ever had nut roast as part of a Christmas meal. Normally I've made some recipe that has caught my eye and that one of Lesley C's might do the trick this year.

I'd second Hanneke - vegetarian Christmas dinner doesn't have to be nut roast! For us it is a "special" meal, i.e. something that has more components, or takes longer than a normal dinner.

In the past we've had:
- Thai (e.g. tempura veggies, soup, curry/satay)
- Indian (e.g. onion bhajis, curry, daal, dosa/naan, salads
- Middle eastern (falafel with homegrown broadbeans, laffa breads, dips, salads)- probably works better in NZ as it is summer here

I killed a nut roast last year! Terrible cook (not vegetarian but I have a semi vegan teenager)

How about a hearty pie for Christmas dinner, this one is a favourite of mine, easy to make it vegan.
