I'm certainly not intending to be here any later than 15:00, but was hoping for something rather earlier.

14:12.

Our work days are 7.2 hours. IF I had arrived at 8am and IF I work through lunch, then I complete my contractual obligations by 14:12.

Some days I arrive by 8am, and some days I work through lunch.

Although today I didn’t arrive at 8am, and I’ll have a lunch; however 14:12 still has some plausible legitimacy about it, so that’ll do.

Christmas Eve is a always a faff at work. There is never anything structured about knock off time. This year we were dismissed at lunch time.
In previous years some people have been released at two, whilst others are discharged a little later, and those who get forgotten about end up begging to be let out at ten to five (that’ll be ten minutes early).

Here it's 'just after 13:00 and pretend to work from home' on Christmas Eve.

New Year's Eve seems to have no standing protocol. I've been in this particular job for just over four years and nobody *ever* seems to have a clue how NYE 'works'.

To sweeten the pill of all the ongoing redundancies, my employer gave us all a half day on NYE and Xmas Eve as well as the 27th. Most of us just then took a half day to get the full NYE hol. I think those at work today have been told they can all go by 13:00.

Unfortunately I can’t fix helicopters at home, so pretending to work from home isn’t an option 🙁

Eynsham, what about the old ‘paperwork to catch up on’, ‘report I need to finish that I just doesn’t get done while I’m here’ or ‘staff appraisals to write’ ploys?

Failing that can’t you take one of the helicopters ‘to test a repair’ then fly home.....

I’ll go for the second option. It might make a mess of the trees in our garden when landing though, but it would clear away the leaves!
