I don't know how much use my two short and slow ultras would be, but for those of you who have more typical data, the opportunity to contribute to scrow sourced research

Thanks, Andy is a typical professor - very intelligent, and likes to ramble on a little. I'm chatting with him tomorrow morning, with a view to booking him in for a Q&A session in the coming months.

This came in my twitter feed today. No doubt it is common knowledge, but there may be others like me who only just became aware. It is a book on the finishers of the Barkley Marathons. being crowd sourced.

That sounds good.

I have Tales From Out There: The Barkley Marathons, The World's Toughest Trail Race which is a good read although perhaps a little factual. It has maps of the evolution of the course over the years which I liked as I'm interested in seeing how a race evolved geographically. I don't think Frozen Ed has completed more than two loops, although he's definitely got his boots on the ground.

Hi everyone, I'm entered in the Heineken race to the castle 100km in the summer, a big jump up from the 60km's events I've done, so I'm looking for advice on a pair of very well cushioned pair of trail shoes.

I need the extra cushioning as I have sciatica issues and cushioning/comfort helps.

Price doesn't matter if they help get me across the finish like, but if I can do it for £70 instead of £170 that would help lol.

I think terrain is relatively easy going grassy trail.

You won't find much more cushioned than Hoka shoes, but whether you get on with them is difficult to say. Look for the Stinson ATR maybe, but find somewhere you can try them on really as they are a bit "marmite"
