Do I need to wear socks (obviously five toed variety) with vibram five fingers footwear?

No, not necessarily, but you can. They're pretty comfortable, and shouldn't really rub much if at all.

Only if you don't want your expensive footwear to become stinky in no time at all.

They go through the machine lovely. As does other expensive footwear, like Inov-8.

Eventually even the washing machine doesn't remove the smell. Ask my how I know If I wore VFFs, which I don't, I wouldn't want to be faffing around with toe socks and would probably not bother. |

There's really no need, unless you suffer from cold extremeties. I used my fake VFFs in snow, rain, ice. They're so glove-like that they don't really rub, this is Bikilas I'm talking about.

Got my buffs today. Very odd to get on! Think I've got webbed feet!or 6 toes! Very comfy without socks but will try them with socks for the smell and to ensure my ugly toe nails don't rip the fabric, thanks for all the helpful comments
