Why would I get a stand for my own bike rather than a thing specifically designed to go nowhere? It's been a long time since I went on the latter and I've only done 2 mins on someone else's turbo

with a turbo trainer, you are using your own bike set up for your size and how you ride it. You get a realistic ride position which you don't with an exercise bike

turbo means a two for one - indoor on the trubo or out on the road - and exercise bike doen't offer that choice.
