Ouch. Well done for holding your nerve. Very greedy of them to expect you to offer more when you’re already over the asking price!

Just wondering how quickly people have moved recently? We made offer 22 Jan, accepted 25 Jan, mortgage offer today, waiting for draft contract due anytime, my survey booked 19 Feb, think there’s 3 or 4 in chain total with us at the bottom. I know it’s all case by case but think we’ve moved quickly so far.

Mortgage approved, sellers pack drafted. Searches should now start. Survey yesterday.

Things have quietened down a lot since the frenzy of 2020-22. We had our house valued in September but held off putting it up for sale. In February we found a house we liked, so got ours valued again by the same guy - £20k less now as the market was so unstable. Thanks Liz and Kwasi.

We had no interest so dropped the price by £10k and have had 3 viewings, roughly 1 a fortnight since.

The house we like has been on the market since October. We went to see it in February and were their first viewers. They dropped the price by £10k after we'd been and have had 5 or 6 viewings since but it's still on the market.
We've had an offer now but they haven't sold their house yet. Everything seems to be very relaxed compared to when my friends and family were house hunting last year when it was all go.

Many months have passed…
Our first sale fell through but we accepted another offer at the start of January - we had 3 viewers in 4 days after a quiet period.

Our buyers had their mortgage survey done here yesterday but will be having a bigger survey further down the line. We are 3rd in the chain; 5th in the chain still hasn’t found anywhere to move to. It’s frustratingly slow.

And the chain is complete at last 🎉 6 people, 5 properties. Only 1 needs a mortgage so hoping that smooths things along.

Congratulations! That’s a long chain but only 1 mortgage is good.

My BF accepted an offer on his house today, third time as two have fallen through, so hoping this is it. Also cash buyers. So he can officially move in with me then we can decide if we want to move (I don’t!)

That is good news, Meglet. It shouldn't take long for C's sale to go through then, as it as uncomplicated as it can be! It must have been frustrating for those 2 previous sales to fail. We lost a buyer last June and have accepted a price £15k less than that offer, due to the Great Housing Market Slump of 2023.
