I went out running while the programme was on ;)

I have a treadmill at home and I enjoy running on it and would use it more than I do were it not for one of the problems mentioned in the article - my achilles tendons don't appreciate the repetitive movement on the bouncy surface. But when the weather is so bad that running outside would be miserable or dangerous it's great to have the option.

Having resisted for a while, my son is currently doing most of his running on the treadmill. I'm quite pleased, because it's dark when he gets home from work and although I feel safe running outdoors after dark myself I worry about VP being seen as fair game for heckling by the local neds and not knowing how to handle it.

I am staying in a hotel for a couple of days, so was on the treadmill today. The gym was like a sauna, so it was really tough, and I don't really trust the speedo on them. I tend to run at a heart rate for a given time. I know what speed a heart rate gives me, so can work out how far I have gone if it had been out there with the 3d people. Or is that cheating?

Many years ago I mainly, only, ran on treadmills at the gym, I then left said gym so had to start running on the road, since then I've never looked back. Despite the weather I now always run on the road. Be it rain, wind, snow or ice, I'm out there doing it.

If I had the view that every training run had to be a magical mystery tour of delight and wonderment and there was no element of developing and maintaining running fitness then maybe I could begin to understand the treadmillophobia but even then I still can't get past the issue that nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head to use one. I can't remember the last time I used one but they are still a useful tool.
