Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'd suggest including Vixx's point, GG, that free and welcoming access to sports on a social level is really important (vital, even) for everyone, particularly those dealing with something like transitioning in a still very fraught environment, so errecting unnecessary barriers to that should be avoided.

Yes that's seems a good summary to me and Raemond's point re social running is also important.

I'd wondered about thread locking as well but agree with Vrap's reasons not to

Can someone explain to me how as a female I'm putting up an unnecessary barrier in social.sports if I am of the view that id prefer not to share my sports team (& by implication the facilities wher we get ready for/change for said sports) with a person still with full male anatomy. I appreciate transgender people may be suffering trauma but as a woman it is traumatic to me the thought of having biological males in my safe female protected venues/teams. Lowering of testosterone transition still leaves many male-female transitioned with full male anatomy! Why must I accept that is OK without question because that is what increasingly women wi habe to accept.

I realise that genuine transgender athletes will not want to share women but unless we debate the issues women may have with male b9dies being in their teams then it leaves the door open for abuses by non transgender men taking advantage of the potential to gain access under the transgender banner. To say they won't is naive IMO. Again this would make things worse rather than better for genuine transgender people.
