So you can take banned substances as long as it's part of your transition medical programme - surely that is wide open for abuse by unscrupulous athletes? Please note I am not accusing genuinelly transgender athletes (although I still think advantages persist even with lwoered testosterone) but as amply demonstarated in cycling & tennis athletes even at the highest level have been known to suddenly acquire"conditions" if it means they can take drugs.

The WSER is not obliged to comply with IOC rules and testosterone measurement doesn't form part of the assessment. outsideonline.com |

So, in theory it's OK to run any old qualifying race so you qualify for Western States & that's OK. That seems grossly unfair to female athletes.

& why does fairness to Grace override fairness to the protected female category. Again, one persons fairness is usurping the 000's of others.

I find the pronoun cis hugely offensive. Why am I regarded as a horrible person for insisting I do not want to be called by that but those transitioning seem to be able to appear to insist on their pronouns (I am not referrign to anyone here who has never insisted I sue any words but referring to media cases where people have been repreimanded for using the wrong pronoun) being used without any recourse. That whole western states policy stinks IMO.

I think we need to accept that there is no answer to this which will cover all bases appropriately.

Cisgender - denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender corresponds with their birth sex. I don't see the issue it's just the opposite of transgender. What's the issue? |

It upsets Jovio's classical sensibilities because it's 'not a real word,' or something.

"Cisgender" has only entered general usage recently and it would be naïve to expect everyone just to smile sweetly and accept it. I'm totally comfortable with its use in legal, medical, and technical contexts, but in everyday life instinct is, "Don't go sticking a new label on me now."

In discussing transgender issues I find it useful, but again, would never use it in general conversation.
