HG - you would make progress just by training more, you do less running than me and I have injury issues so spend most of my time on the bike.

I have had a year of significant improvements mainly by increasing my mileage, and according to my log around 75% is easy mileage. The rest is made up of club interval and hill work sessions and parkruns. Over the year, the easy mileage pace has improved from over 10 min/mile to around 9:15 now.

Last week, I did a mile race in 6:00 :)

I understand the physiology and am quite happy to train slowly and comfortably for lasting gains in fitness...

It's odd isn't it. Feels like not working hard enough / trying hard enough.

True to my word, I've just been out and done a run at (what seems) a very slow pace. Struggled to find th epace, but averaged 9.31 over 7.5 miles. And do you know what - I feel GREAT !!! I love not finishing a run absolutely knackered, and I felt strong all the way and was never out of breath. This IS the way froward - I have seen the light !! Allelujia, praise to Gobi et all .... !!!! Can't wait to continue following my short 4 week plan to the letter, and seeing a PB at the GSR !!!

I wouldn't say that TT ;-) :-)

Running slower enables me to run a higher volume imo, whereas running in the greyzone, for me equaled a lot of inconsistent training (although constantly putting my back out (non running) and getting incredibly fat due to putting my back out & inconsistent training arriving from the afore gave the same problem ;-) )
