Hi all ... a little advice would be welcome ...
I have just completed the Barcelona Marathon on the 17th March (My 10th Marathon) and have a Place in the VLM..
My problem is I attempted Barca with a bad cough and cold...and I really suffered!! The cold is still hanging about (nowhere near as bad as it was but its lurking... ) I feel I`ve waited for the cold to go on its own for too long .. and training has been almost non existent... I don`t want to feel like I did in Barca, during a race EVER again !!!! 4 weeks until London... What should I realistically be doing training wise ...

4 week taper. Consider Barça to be your last long run.

My advice would be rest up until the cold has gone, it's only been ten days since Barcelona so your body obviously needs a rest. When it's gone train at about 50% of your usual mileage and then enjoy VLM ! !

Just realised that doesn't work with the dates. Take as long as it takes to recover. You're Marathon fit. When you feel you've recovered do what's left of the taper.
There's a good plan that Hal Higdon has done about this very thing. I'll post the link when I'm at a computer.

the trick is to keep ticking over without going mad - this is hard to do as sometimes after a marathon *other distances are availible* you will feel like the ultimate running machine and be tempted to fit in a 20 miler
