The lowest division of the SAL (Southern Athletic league) is often a bit similar, larks. 'Low key' I like to say... suits 68 year old me fine, too. Thanks to SPR for re-igniting the track and field thread this season. It's been good to see people posting. I haven't contributed much - letting myself be intimidated by all the high achieving MD runners. Not their fault I hasten to add! Also, sad to say, I think SpeedyGoth may have been the only other woman to post. |

ANYWAY - in the interests of being less apologetic about myself - here's my season round up. 11 track meets, 39 single events in all - count them (I just did) plus three or four 4x1s. 100, 200, HJ, LJ, DT, SP and JT. Yesterday was the last meet of the season and I was very pleased with two good SBs which produced my highest ever WAVAs for long jump and high jump. Also moved me up to =4th and =5th in the age group rankings. I know I am still improving at the jumps and throws and I'm now focusing on the indoors in Jan/Feb next year. |

Thread is better when lots of people share what they're doing. That was my idea re putting 'goals' in about thread. If there's a better way of doing it next season, let me know. Sounds like a good finish to the season Sharkie. My last track meet (which would have been yesterday) got cancelled but I was also right that I'd struggle to hold on till then for track. Form is good but feeling tired more often now and wouldn't want to have been racing a 1500 yesterday so wouldn't have entered. Autumn road relays and then a break I think. Not sure how winter will work here. Anyone planning to do indoors? Winter miles and XC League is the plan for me but if there was a 3000 indoors in late Feb I could be tempted as a warm up for the Spring road relays. |

Athletics Norfolk are talking about putting on some more track events this autumn, which is good. The funny thing is that I'm primarily a long distance runner who has dabbled a little in track running in the last couple of years, yet the only events where I've got times I'm happy with this year have been on the track.

Have you broken an age group world record recently, J2R - I ask as there's a 108.21% wava on your profile. I know your 1500 is pretty quick.....

Sharkie, I'm not seeing that. Where do I look? I checked out all my race times and they're correct, as far as I can make out. My 1500m is 4:55, which gives a WAVA of 87.44%. (And no, not broken any world records recently ).

It's on your profile - dunno where these things appear from. I've seen a few 100 pluses. Mine says 88.56 and I know my actual bests are 86 or 87, not 88.

I can see 90.x% on J2R's profile? Links to the 17:17 5k time when clicked.
