Week on Sunday! Real MD race! On track! Apols for exclamation marks but that's such good news. That's a good, tough session. Second set better paced than first, which is encouraging. |

2 x 150m, 2 x 120m, 2 x 90m with walk backs (plus a bit on the shorter reps). Similar to the session I did a week ago on tarmac. Speed involved but not eye balls out just yet. I had my usual moment of doubt when I couldn't keep up with a speedy U13, every year it gets harder to keep my nerve. |

Good session. I think not being eyeballs out is the way to go right now, get the body used to the sessions on track again so that eyeballs out doesn't place too much stress on the body. Re keeping nerve, there are some speedy kids that would beat us all: age-records.125mb.com Yes, will be good to race on track again. This is earlier than I'd normally race on track as I'd normally be doing the road relays around now. |

Today's session was 4 x 400, 300, 200 (rec jog 2 mins, 90 sec, lap) circa 1500m pace. 68-70 was the target which would be sub 1500 PB pace and ideal would have been 68,52,34. Happy with pacing today and would be very happy if I could sustain that pace over 3.75 laps. 68.3, 51.7, 33.9 67.2, 49.7, 33.2 69.1, 50.6, 33.8 67.8, 49.6, 30.8 Last rep was a sprint which I gave up on with 50m as there was no more power to find. I realised later that I should have probably stopped trying to accelerate and just maintain but the competition sucked me in, lol |

Certainly works well as intermediate session before the really intense stuff starts again. The reducing distance means you're confident you can maintain pace after the first rep on each set. If anyone has done the maths, they'd have noticed the ideal pace was 68, 51, 34. Did winter return for everyone else yesterday evening? |

First track session since 2019 and first ever in the snow (I don't do track in winter, this is supposed to be summer...) 5 x 1k off reducing recoveries. |

I thought you said you weren't back till 12 Apr Speedy? The weather was very confusing yesterday. I was in shorts and vest and could definitely have run in a long sleeve. |

That's what they said, but then they let us back early. I don't think I would have enjoyed a grass session in the snow, so it's just as well!

I did a mild progressive run yesterday which is my first "speed" work since last September. I am a little concerned with how A. slow I was for the perceived effort B. what actual speedwork in the trainers will feel like |
