Fair point, the triple is something a bit more out of the ordinary. My league doesn't run 400m (thank god) so I've never had to bother with one. 200m is embarassing enough!

Can't believe a track league doesn't have 400m?

I still need to do a individual 400m! Hopefully I can find a late April/ early May race next year, and being a master now might help in find some where it'll be a proper race.

I probably don't need to test my 100m speed is a race again but 200 might be interesting.

Track for seniors at the league is either 200m/800/3000m or 100m/1500m/3000m plus 4x100m and 4x400m, but the latter rarely happens. It's a busy day with lots of junior races, especially U11s/U13s so there's not a lot of time for too many senior events - plust few enough participants.

Ah ok, with juniors as well it makes sense. Juniors and seniors are totally separate here.

I think some of the bigger clubs manage bigger discrete leagues (e.g. Sale, Trafford etc) but the Cheshire League is mainly small clubs and broadly provides a nice "family friendly" environment.

Saving you from yourself J2R ;-)

I think I'd always double if I do a sprint TBH although I'd like to make the sprint the A race then do some endurance as training.

In regards to the 200 affecting the 3000, I just realised I did that double in 2013. 28.42 200 followed by a 10:48 3000. 21 days later, I ran 10:22 for 3000 so safe to say it had an effect for me.

The 3000 after 200 time was actually 10:50.70, the 21 day later time was 10:22.48

I ended up late to the track today so didn't get to calibrate track mode before the race. Amazingly though the distance came out at 1498 without calibration! Presuming the fact I the watch was told I was in lane 1 helps here. It's possible a race is the worst way to calibrate for the other lanes, although I definitely did 800 in lane 1 today so hopefully it works ok for the next time I'm on the track.

Ran 4:30.77 and won my race pretty easily (4 sec gap to 2nd). Sat in for 700m then took lead for 800m.

No PB today and if I'm honest, weather concerns meant PB mentality wasn't there and needed a race to make me run that way. I was in between A and B race standard (PB wise I was on the front of B but pretty sure I'm stronger than PB in the right race) and could have put a faster time to be in the A race but then with the weather concerns, I'd have been looking at a lonely run into the wind chasing time so I hoped that the B race would just go out faster and give me a shot in the last two laps.

In the end the wind wasn't too bad but the race was a little on the slow side for what I wanted and I wasn't feeling like a solo TT. This week made me realise I wouldn't want to do outdoor track in the winter in the time chasing format, I'm happy to just race so well seeded races or a track league would work for me, not sure many would bother though as most of the time conditions won't be conducive to fast times (today may have been TBF though).

Hopefully a good winter and the new BRAT MD group will mean that I'm ready to race above my current level next year.

Well done on that, SPR. I hope I will learn in time to be philosophical about times on the track, as you are (and as I am with road racing). All too new and exciting for me at the moment, though!
