I have absolutely no desire, nor the ability, to take part in one of these "I'm hard" events. I have absolutely no problem with anyone else spending their cash on them and to paraphrase a terrible old apologist's saying "some of my best friends have completed Tough Mudder". This rubbishing of running and the fitness it creates though is just nonsense and, in a way, similar to the trend a good few years back now, to look slightly sneeringly on those who "only" completed halfs and marathons. You saw this a lot when tris became more popular and, or so it seemed, the world, his wife, Sophie Raworth and Natasha Kaplinsky were looking down their noses at you if you hadn't done a tri.
