:)G there is a parkrun that does a voluntary contribution bucket though I cannot remember where that is. They use the rugby club house for coffee, cake and toilets.

Dunfermline parkrun wanted to collect for a start finish flag. I suggested bucket, but was told that this was not allowed, donations had to go via parkrun hq. I suppose you can't be too careful. I am sure everyone associated with parkrun is honest, but you must avoid any opportunity for wrong doing to maintain confidence.

Funny Cyclops, but possibly not very helpful! And this joke "council sign", while being quite clever, is probably not helping to soothe relations either! facebook.com Chat with our RD and she is thinking of suggesting a litter tidy up working bee. Yay! G |

Fizz :-)
Leanington uses the football pavilion and they take donations for the tea and cakes. A small amount of money funds the teabags and the rest usually gets donated to charity on their birthday (this Saturday, as it happens :-)). I don't think any of the funds go back to parkrun, but I could be wrong, I'm sure someone will be along soon to confirm

Compulsion definitely wouldn't work at large parkruns or those where there's a large cadre of non-running quasi-permanent volunteers. Imagine Bushy Park, with 20 people at every marshal point grumbling that they couldn't have a button-pressing job.

Oh, good point CharlieP, I didn't even think of the ones with *too many* volunteers. But surely it could be enforced at the discretion of the parkrun director? But I agree, encouragement rather than compulsion is always preferred. G
