I occasionally find unlabelled things, I refer to those as "Mystery Meat".
Appetising.
Usually spag bol or curry.

We used to have "cat meat stew". We had a pampered cat at the time who lived off finely chopped beef. In a fit of organisation we cut up a load of meat, bagged up in appropriate portions and froze them. Then Fred met with an unfortunate accident. No cat. Freezer full of meat. We just had to not call it cat stew, or even worse cat pie, if guests were over!

We have Freezer Surprise. But I’ve got better at labelling things now.

Been a bit lazy about batch cooking recently so not had so many 'lucky dip' meals.

With us it's mostly bags of vegan chilli, though I don't think we've actually got any in there at the moment...

It's not freezer surprise as such, but I was very pleased when I looked in there yesterday and found some magnums left over from last year

bigleggy that's how chili with pasta ended up as a regular dinner in our house
I've got pretty good at labelling, but don't always manage effective rotation...I defrosted our chest freezer last week and found (and threw out!) some freezer-burned meat from 2020, a bag of diced apples labelled 2017 and some stock marked 2014! (I have a fairly relaxed attitude to consuming things that have been frozen for a bit longer than advised, but those definitely found my limits.)

Chilli is pretty much the only thing we make in enough bulk that there's any left over to freeze - although there has been the occasional 'could be veggie curry' moment. Happily, it doesn't usually matter, I just have to remember that things are often a bit spicier second time around and be prepared with cheese. The only thing that regularly goes in there is bags of diced pumpkin/squash, which are usually fairly easy to spot.
Our freezer is tiny, so regular batch cooking and freezing isn't really a viable option for us. When we eventually redo the kitchen I'll definitely want a more usefully sized one.
