Practised the XC course this morning ahead of race this Sunday. Managed to lose shoe in the mud running up farm field and other shoe while attempting to rescue first!

from the web site:
Start time: 11:00 a.m.
Metros fixture will be at Hillingdon House Farm Fields again this year, our base will be in Hillingdon Athletics Stadium (post code UB8 1ES) where there are changing rooms toilet facilities and refreshments. There is some parking there which is pay and display, there is also parking in the surrounding roads.
The nearest exit from the A40 is Swakleys roundabout, either the first exit and then first right down Warren Road, and there is a footpath over the A40 to Hillingdon House Farm Fields. The other option is the third exit off Swakleys roundabout (B483) there is a turn off to the left to the Stadium or going down Honeycroft Hill and parking around in the surrounding road, North Way is the way to the start, but there is no where to park along that road, where is also a way into the field from Sweetcroft Lane. There are also car parks in Uxbridge if you do not mind about a 20 minute walk.
The course will be slightly different from last year, it will still be three laps, with the first lap long than the second and third.

Well the weather at N Staffs Uttoxeter was horrible, they did the best with the course and it was well organised but did not have the sadistic appeal of Leek. A good blast with no real hills, the ground was very wet with sloppy mud, and as per tradition the juniors were crying!

The Metros XC today was brilliant, really muddy and squelchy! With the addition this year of a 'water feature', a stream with quite high banks either side (about 1.5 m) making scrambling in and out tricky. And to top it off, I finished 30m ahead of my nemesis! With great food in a warm sports hall, the only negative point was the congestion going into the woods on the first lap. I said hello to Waveydavey but missed any other Fetchies.
