Bakhmut, is this going to be the pivot point? Where Russia punches itself out? Runs out of munitions (where are are the almost daily cruise missile mass strikes) and the challys/Leopards charge over the horizon to push Putin's beleaguered lot back. Bakhmut resonates, a bit, of Monte Casino in WWII. The more the place was reduced to rubble the more or became defendable by a determined, well equipped and trained force. That's the difference between how Russia has pounded cities to submission in other countries, the defenders are professional. I was also trying to figure out, massive as it is how has Russia been able to produce more artillery shells than pretty much the entire west? I guess for the west mass artillery barrage for weeks isn't NATOs go to tactic is it. Ukraine is odd in somuch as no one has established air superiority the Ukrainians can't and the Russians won't risk trying. So we're back to ground warfare all beit with a lot of hitech gadgets. |

This is an interesting take, on how there's no way Russia can win. The economic facts are indisputable but there's also the matter of political will, which the author doesn't address. cepa.org |

Not sure why the Russians would want to provoke the Americans with this SU27/Reaper incident today. I mean if they want the black sea crawling with F35's then yeah but I was thinking they'd view that as a bad thing. |

You have to understand the Russian psychology Rich. They regard the airspace over the Black Sea as their private domain and the continued drone ICFs drive them nuts, it was waiting to happen.

Aye, I'm surprised it took the Russians so long to bring one of those Reapers down. These drones have been hoovering up data and probably providing good targeting info to the Ukrainians for ages.

Of course, if there were a Russian drone circling in the Gulf of Mexico the Yanks would not be too pleased.
