My goodness, you'd think they were being targetted specifically wouldn't you?

Apparently the Russian army's NCOs don't function in the way ours do, providing tactical level leadership. So when the column grinds to a halt the colonel or general at the back goes up to the front to see what's the problem. And gets shot by a sniper.

I’ve seen it argued that it’s an indication of the poor training of the troops.

There was a report a week or two ago saying the Russian communications kit wasn’t working and senior officers were having to resort to using mobile phones, which left them very vulnerable

I read in the Times that the Russians had attacked comms infrastructure in the early days of the invasion - then realised they had shot themselves in the foot, as it were. I don't know if that was true but it seems to fit.

There has been very little in the press today about potential chemical attacks and nearly nothing reported in non-UK outlets. I know that The Mail is given to sensationalism and artistic licence, but all the same you have to wonder what's going on and what the sources were. Reuters briefly alluded to the potential use, but elsewhere there has been a conspicuous silence. Curious.
