Fugly are a bit heavier, 226g each (my most recent pair of Next%, not the 2, weigh 190g)

I took the fuglies out for a plod today, the usual Nike bounce and surely faster than my old trainers but less comfortable than my original 4% and amazingly 38g heavier per shoe in my size. Maybe I did the lace up a bit tight but it wasn’t great over the arch. I’m sure they will be fine for training and I’ll use them this weekend in my race.

I’ve decided I really like the stretchy sock effect that my old ones have. Really light and cool as well as being comfortable. Just a bit sloppy at holding foot position on slopes, but most road races don’t have much of that.

I used the alpha on Saturday and old 4% on Sunday.

The Alpha make the 4% feel normal

I feel likewise, although I'm using box fresh AF against old/worn Next% but the difference seems quite noticeable.

Doing London marathon in AF this Sunday, no idea how they will feel in the latter stages but the bounce at the front feels pretty nice as I'm an extreme forefoot runner.

AF 225g / Next% 190g

Fuzzy

2 pairs of 4% - have been training in a pair but have a pair I kept purely for racing so although 2 years old now probably done 100 to 150 miles.

Alphafly were broken in with 2 miles and a race :-0

Yeah I think the fewer miles the better for maximum bounce/increased stride length.

No data to prove that, although it feels like it would be easy to check as most watches pick up cadence from arm swing so you can calculate. I don't even bother keeping records of which shoes I wore on which run these days though.

AF only 214g - I was getting the number confused with mass of the fuglies

I'm having second thoughts about the significance of the weight of shoes, or rather, about extreme light weight being the most important thing. I say that because I've been running a bit recently in my On Cloud Booms, which are 229g in my size. That's a little bit heavier than my other carbon-plated shoes, the Endorphin Pro, and not especially light for races shoes. But for short stuff, these shoes feel VERY fast - I really feel as if I'm getting the benefit of the carbon, more so than with the Endorphins. Not been able to put it to the test in any races yet, though, and certainly for anything 10K or longer I'd go for the Endorphins as the Ons are pretty hard and unforgiving.
