Sorry to hear that larkim All my cancelled races I have deferred to next year. Sounds like a good plan to have a crack at a solo 10k. I was 50 in June and still haven’t run a race as a MV50 |

when you write it like that Lark it is all pretty depressing have you had a look at Run Through Events? I ran one of their 10k the other day and it was well organized, safe-feeling, and on Po10 if you care about that. Looks like they have a few events on up your way. They've put on quite a lot of races recently and I'd hope you can rely on them getting their events on. runthrough.co.uk |

@WW - the really disappointing thing is that the organiser of the race I should have done (RunCheshire) had run a brilliantly organised 5k about a month ago and got fantastic feedback from UKA about the way it was organised ref Covid Secure etc. I suspect any race this weekend in Cheshire would have been canned by the director of public health, whether it was RunThrough or RunCheshire organising it. I think entering any others around here might well result in the same levels of disappointment so it's probably best just to not enter. But I will definitely miss out on mojo forcing me out of the door. |

Just to back up your theory larks, I noticed that the RunNorthWest organised Alderley Edge Bypass 10k also planned for this coming Sunday was also cancelled by the Director for Public Health for East Cheshire this morning.

I was going to post something along the lines that is daft that covid safe events are being cancelled because they are unsafe, but I suppose if workplaces are now covid safe and we're being asked to WFH where possible then the same logic applies.

I suppose at some point a COVID secure event will no longer be as COVID secure if multiple people with COVID are likely to attend (although they should still be safer than most. Ideally we don't want an issue at a running event. I don't think I've heard of any so far.

I think that the various public health bodies are worried about doing or allowing anything that may have a risk of pushing up the infection rate in their area. They are all worried about having more severe local lock downs. I suppose the risk (increased infection rate) versus the benefit (economic) in their view comes down in favour of not allowing the races (not saying I agree with this) |
