Anyone with a time discrepancy, watch vs app etc, it’s worth sending the deets via the email sent to you after the run. I got my 3:28 amended to the 3:26:47 recorded (for 26.3 miles) on the watch, which has nudged me into the top 100 (87) for my old man category😁

Hello everyone, Im on week 4/16 week marathon training plan which is just to keep me ticking over the colder months but I’ve found my times are improving even though my efforts are all on my own (not with real races). Managed 18 miles today with last 6 miles at effort: 8:43 8:12 8:10 8:06 8:04 8:23 8:39 8:18 8:01 7:58 8:23 8:39 7:22 7:14 7:11 6:52 6:55 6:51 I feel deep down I can break this 3:30 barrier, I just haven’t given myself best opportunity in the past when I’ve attempted it, i.e working nights. Children are older now, I’ve a supportive (and running obsessed) partner, work 4 on 4 off with the opportunity to run on call (very rarely get a call). Anyone else giving it a go before the end of the ‘amazing’ year? |

I’m a negative nelly at the moment thinking there will be no more races until at least 2022 I hope I’m wrong! Got a few carried over from this year to next. Dabbling with HR training and just generally trying to keep fit.

That looks like a sharp session for 4/16 Marchbanks - impressive. I’d be happy with that with 4 weeks to go! Do you have a target in mind to unload your training on? Looks like you’re in good nick anyways. My final ‘proper’ 26.2 opportunity for 2020 got cancelled today - Portsmouth Coastal Marathon - obvs no big surprise but disappointing nonetheless. I just love running so I’ll probably keep bimbling along at around 30ish m/week and hope something presents itself in the spring. |

Sorry to hear about the cancelled race SS, I really do hope for races to come back in spring! My mood ebbs and flows but generally stays on the positive side. I’ve a lot more to lose by thinking ‘f’ it, what’s the point, so I’ll keep running and remember how I enjoyed running for runnings sake when we were only allowed out for exercise once a day! My goals were always a championship start for VLM, Sub 1:30 half and Sub 3:15 Marathon but last week I read they’re harder, 1:28 for half (eek) and I also read you have to wear your club vest if you qualify which has also put me off. I’ve often stuck at 30 m/w but now trying to do 50 minimum with a high of 70 to see how my body copes. Last week was A 62 mile week and despite yawning more than usual, I didn’t have any negative side affects. |
