I did over my planned long run distance today (only by a bit) but skipped the MP component. This was because I ran with a group and I find it is more enjoyable to do a long run together than alone. But if the GC marathon was not likely to be cancelled I would have left the group and done the MP miles.

Need to work out a plan to scale back into a maintenance mode ahead of building up again in June.

1:34:30 in the Dartford Half today. Very happy with that. Course is very hilly (240m of ascent and descent) and it was very windy.

I’m still training as per the schedule. At this moment in time my 50K hasn’t been call off and I have a small 250 person marathon which I guess might have a chance to stay on. If they are cancelled I’ll still do the distance just so the training comes to an end. I can then concentrate on Endure 24 or even London in October.

Did a 22 mile run today for some reason. Horrific return run of 11 miles into a strong cold wind.

Just over 17 weeks before the rescheduled VLM - assuming it goes ahead of course!

I guess it’s nearly time to dust off the training plan and see how it needs to be tweaked. I’ve got a significant base to work off that I haven’t had before (685 miles for the year so far) so I’m thinking a bit more speed work would be a good idea.

Realistically though I’m not confident that the marathon will happen at all...

Based on Newport full and Cardiff half being off, I wouldn't be confident, even allowing for the different nuance of the Welsh Assembly interpretation. All times will be down in 2021 cos we all try to build from one marathon season to the next.
