Riggsy - No point double guessing yourself, if it wasn't right at the time stopping was the right decision.

That said I have DNF'd a marathon at 25M as I didn't want to do the last mile dog leg so cut across the field and picked up my bag :-o. One more or less doesn't really matter

Take care Curly

Your right joe. It didn’t feel right to carry on that’s why I stopped.

Did manage a very easy two miles today and started doing strength work etc on my hamstrings yesterday.

Gently does it if you don't have anything else coming up.

Easy runs and range of motion exercises for the next week would be my choice.

That’s the plan.
Comparing my training for this marathon and my PB marathon is

1) no strength and conditioning work
2) very little hill work
3) very little tempo/MP running

4) no half marathon in build up
5) illness 3-4 weeks out from this marathon
6) probably to little running from 4 weeks out due to illness

The main thing I felt helped with this marathon was my time on feet long run which i Will do again next time and possibly more than once

How did your long runs compare ...

As that is where the late fatigue will show.

I would say on the whole they were slower and not as many. In my PB year a lot of my long runs had things like surges/fast starts/fast finishes in them. The other thing i noted was that I had it 1500 miles before my PB marathon (roughly same time of year as this marathon) a total i haven’t reached yet this year.

Miles makes SMILES :-).

Definitely 😁
Probably more to be learned from this one going wrong than if it had been ok
