Blimey larks that’s made me realise that October 2022 I moved up to MV55.

I agree running fast isn’t the injury risk you think it is. More the cumulative effect I reckon if combined with big mileage increase and hills and Fay be a wee fall in there as well.

I have noticed you hanging out in the retirement thread Baz :-)

and agreed lark - still plenty of PBs there for you to grab given your history.

I reckon that I could run close to 29 mins for 5 miles given 6 weeks notice but the idea of running anywhere much further than that at any kind of effort scares the living daylights out of me!! I can see me doing a half-hearted prep for an Autumn marathon. The horrid outcome will push me one way or the other for spring 2022.

Sssh ;-)

We have more snow but if that’s gone by Saturday I am going to do a solo 5k aiming for 6:30s and see how that goes and set a marker to work from.

Agreeing (vehemently ;-) ) Wasn't saying that less speed work or fewer races would be a goal. As you say, that would be less fitness, and fewer PBs.

Just said "Be more careful with speedwork and races? " By which I suppose I meant some of the things larks and all of you have listed: stretch, strength, recovery, care with volume + speed loading etc.

It was just a bit of idle speculation / observation from this nearly 12 month experiment we have all been forced on to.

Larks - you could improve exponentially if you did Baz's mileage ;-)

*Expects long response as to why this is not an attractive proposition*

I'm not surprised, Baz. I was just teasing Larks :-)

Yikes, I just booked (refundable) accommodation at the VLM start line. Their publicity today has obviously worked!
