back on the "horse" again, 8.25m yesterday at 7.45mm and 16m today with 14@MP (7.29) and 2 cool down (c8mm) . Done a bit of thinking over the past few days...why did I have no injuries last time or issues with my form etc and I focussed on 3 things: -running with loose feet/ankles so no tight calves/cramp - running with bananas an no sugary drinks -running with nicely cushioned gel shoes (ds trainers)
So today why was it such a surprise that I found it very very easy at this pace with loads of energy running of no breakfast and a banana, brooks ghost gel cushioned shoes and chi focus on loose ankles and not a hint of cramp.
If going back to my old approach is "IT" then I may very well be on the way, if not then 2 steps forward one back. The cheshire 20 I will run off 2 bananas (as I did in blackpool last year) and fingers crossed.

Re target for marathon,
I am the same as WW. This will be my last marathon ever, unless I do an ironman event.
PtB, I think I am built more for the shorter distances and don't seem to be able to transfer those times to marathon running. I was gutted to miss the 3.15 by 1 minute at FLM, hence the attempt again this year. I would like to do 3.09.59 due to the GFA shift and think if I run a smart race I amy be able to do it. I am going to take the risky approach of going for a negative split by doing 7:23's to half way, trying to stay relaxed and comfortable to 20 and then pushing on (I'll tell you if it really happens afterwards !)
I was devastated at FLM to have done 17 miles at 6:50's only to slow steadily into cramp and the feeling of hundreds of people streaming past me in the last few miles was hard, especially the bloke who was pacing a women who went past me at 23 miles whilst doing a video call on their mobile to friends ......... b@stards !!!

skoorb, is it all to do with weight I carry the grand total of 78kg around me for 26 miles, is this where the rugby players type build counts against those vs the slim jims who are light as a feather or are there other factors relating to running efficicncy over the longer distances. my 5k time should put me at 2.55 and I will never get within a mile of that

Baz - it's Sunday 11th April - so you'll have a week to recover from celtic thrashing hibs... And its not even Glasgow its Lanarkshire. I tell you if your looking for a 10mile PB this is the course to do it... just look at last years winning times.
