They must have changed the route, looks a bit different now. I'm hoping for a calm day 🙏

1:19:07 at Fleetwood Half, fairly breezy and 10 secs faster than my downhill Edinburgh half from end of May so heading in right direction.

A very surprising 3rd place podium finish too, but there were only 175 in the race. Apart from the first 1.5 miles ran the whole thing alone, 2nd placed guy finished 2mins ahead of me so mentally it was tough with no target in sight.

Drama on the morning of the race when I realised I had packed my wifes shorts, she's 5'3 and im 6'1, so my attire was very aerodynamic 😁

Well run Damo.

That old chesnut about 'accidentally'packing the wifes shorts. :)

Lucky shorts now I'd say, need to buy your wife another pair and you keep the good ones for racing

Nice one Damo. :)

No need to boast about 'packing your wife's shorts' either ;)

Just checking in as I'm guessing a few of us are racing this weekend, between Chester and some other marathon. Any ambitious targets? Any chancy niggles? Is Kipchoge's new record in danger? For me I have a major first world problem - do I race in my trusty Alphaflys which now have a whole 70 miles on them, or break out the fresh pair?

I'm expecting great things of Bekele on Sunday. Wouldn't it be amazing if he beat Kipchoge's record, just for the lols? Not out of the question, as he was only a couple of seconds off Kipchoge's then record 3 years ago. Of course, London is not as fast a course as Berlin, but stranger things have happened. Realistically expecting something more like a 2:03-2:04, though.

Which are you doing AJ?

My alphas have 50 miles on them so I’ll be using that as an excuse for a slow run tomorrow 😂
