2.40.26 at London for me so which was a little frustrating. That had to be the least enjoyable end to a marathon I've had for a while so may go through 2022 without running one to see if I can rekindle the love

Nipped under 2:30 at London for the first time, went out quite hard (1:12:41) and paid for that as the wheels came off around 17-18 miles (1:15:52 second half) but it seemed like most struggled into the wind a bit coming home, and you do get a friendly couple of downhill miles near the start where I think you should bank a bit of time for later.

I went through halfway at Peterborough marathon a few months back in 1:12:40 (which I think had quite a nice tailwind in places) and blew up a fair bit more (definitely into a headwind, and enough turns that I was smashed after 22 miles) finishing in 2:31 so slight redemption.

That was in Next% whereas London was in Alphafly, I suspect they are a bit faster for me but probably not a lot in it

Impressive, fuzzyduck! Not a lot of people seem to prefer the Alphaflies to the Next%, but theoretically they should be a tad faster.

I wasn't that interested in AF until @labratrundown popped up recently suggesting they were a bit more efficient than Next% (from a small sample) and then they went on sale with over 40% discount so I gave them a short test and went for it.

Also saw other runners I know getting good times in them, but it feels like majority of the sharp end still prefer Next% (or another brand entirely now the gap isn't so huge)

I saw that same study, fuzzyduck, and in fact posted a link to it on another thread yesterday. The Saucony Endorphin Pros I plumped for earlier this year don't come out so well in it! But yes, small sample. I have a bit of anti-Nike thing, don't really know why, which is why I went for them. Should probably have gone for the Next% or AFs. Ah, well!

Nice to see the thread with a bit of life in it again. Im building up some miles again and having a small time out you really lose track of whats going on trainer wise. I have got a pair of Next%, they are `ok` but I wasnt amazed, that said I have only used them on mile reps. I also bought some Tempos, which Im thinking is a poor mans Alfas? They are fun, training in those with the long term plan of wearing Alfas in Manchester next year.

Fuzzy- brave splits dude,lovin it.

Anyone with races this year? not that Im were I want to be right now.

Great running fellas. This thread is coming back to life. :)

I turned to the carbon plated darkside and bought from Atreyu. Check them out. £100 and have great reviews. Got a 10k on Sun and hope to get in the low 36's. Very outside chance of a late 35 but optimistic. 52 now and now know why there are not that great times over the V50. .. except Bob of course!

Reading Half as a good workout next month but not done long runs so will enjoy that one.

Jock, nil desperandum! I did sub-36 at the age of 57 and have been a few seconds over since. And the best V60 time this year is 34:06.
