Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Local half marathon this evening.
It rained until 5 minutes before the start and then the sun started shining.
I wanted to better my HM PR of 1:26:42 and I dreamed of running 1:25:xx if all went well.
I was sporting a pair of brand new Vaporfly 3% flyknit.

My start was way too fast: first km in 3:42minutes and first 5k in 19:30 (even splits for sub 1:26 require a 20:20 5k). About two thirds of the way I started to struggle and focused on leg turnover and technique to avoid slowing down too much. Heart rate was about 180/' and crept up the last 5k (there were some artifacts as well in my recording).

The last 2 miles the course was shared with numerous 5k runners that had started an hour later. It was motivating to blast past them and it was bothersome at the same time because of congestion. I am ashamed to confess I touched a lady's shoulder and she could barely avoid a fall.

Although not a strava PR (GPS measured 21,03 km instead of 21,095) I consider this a new HM PR because the official results says 1:26:28 which is 14 seconds faster than my previous official result.
