Many streakers of the old school are still guided by the honourable Dr Ron Hill and whatever he did. He ran up and down the halls of a hospital on crutches apparently as part of his 52 year streak, so we count it.

In the same way I count my very slow run up a hill in Scotland last year! Some may have called it a walk!

In the 6 weeks of healing a tibia stress fracture I managed crutch assisted runs with a cast on my leg , blisters on hands came and went and my speed was better than 15 minutes in the mile I did. I think my best time was about 12 minutes, not sure if I would repeat that lunacy but it didn’t hinder the healing process and never had any issues since.

But if someone had said it was in your best interest to stop would you have done?

I was told to keep weight off it which I did , can’t remember being told not to do anything but then don’t think I asked because knew what the answer would be,

I think a lot of it is in your head - if you set out with the determination of 'this is a run' then you feel like you have run. If that makes sense!

(I do work to a 15m/m for a mile as the minimum requirement)

I think I would 'run' on crutches if I could manage it.

I have just completed the Northern Traverse, 190 miles in 4 days. The next day I ran a horrible, shuffly mile in my sandals as that was the only footwear I could bare on my swollen feet. At 1816 days, the streak lives on and I'm almost running normally, albeit very slow.

(No proper training will take place until my RHR is back to somewhere near normal!)
