Who has gone high brow?

Watching first night now. Holst Planet Suite always has motifs I forget are from it. Very nice, innit.

Really just waiting for the Anna Meredith piece. I heart Anna.

all slightly ruined by the noise of blokes laughing at their own jokes from the pub next door.

Wow. Not bad hey?

Bit annoyed with the directors odd shots of bits of walls or violins when the whole visual point was to view the whole. But still awesome !

I was completely unaware of her work until about 40 minutes ago. That was an incredible experience on TV, it is hard to imagine the impact that it would have had if you were in the RAH. The visuals added an extra dimension to the work but it could easily have stood alone and still taken the breath away.

Less classical is her album Varmints. I have seen her and her "band" 3 times - flippin marvelous if not a bit bonkers.
