Yes, absolutely. Oooh that reminds me? Anyone seen Dio? I wonder if we can add James Elroy to his ‘list of horribly overrated entities’?

Elmore Leonard is great and his writing had generated some wonderful films and TV.

*resists harping on about Justified again* ;-)

I don’t have such a list. I’ve read Elmore Leonard, I might have read James Elroy, but I’ve not read Carl Hiassen. I’ve not read enough Of the first two to have a firm opinion, but I did enjoy Get Shorty.

And while we're at it Donovan > Bob Dylan. I give you Hurdy Gurdy Man and Season of the Witch. No great claims for the lyrics, it's the music what does it. Runs away and hides.

Yep - GregP's quote about Leonard vs Hiassen was like Dylan being that much greater than Donovan... I was merely exploding the original premise :-)

Janes Elroy: read and mostly enjoyed the LA quartet - The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential and the other one. White Jazz? Thought LA Confidential was probably the best of the group.

Read American Tabloid. Okay. Wouldn’t reread.

And The Cold Six Thousand. On holiday. Nothing else to read.

Abandoned Blood’s A Rover.

Got bored of the short paragraphs.
