I've booked a 6-week block of pilates sessions for next month - think I ought to get some prep work in first though...

flippin 'eck Nellers - they all look a bit on the tough side!

It's certainly challenging. I used another "C" word at Jeff, the Athlean man, during the session through gritted teeth.

Also didn't manage it all and had various breaks and breathers during the 60 and 30 second bits.

After a piece on the Marathon Talk podcast last week and a conversation with my daughter who is doing a sports rehab degree I did some testing on Tuesday to set some 1 rep max weights and started doing a more structured strength programme tonight.

I'm lifting heavier weights than I'm used to but for significantly less reps. I had been doing 3 x 12 but this plan is 4 x 4 tonight going up to 5 x 4 next round and 5 x 5 after that. The weights are still not huge for most people but never having done this stuff before its significantly heavier than I'm used to.

And I hurt tonight, but in a good way.

Sounds good Nellers. I was doing something similar last year using the Stronglifts app and might get back into this again, although I'm not sure how to fit it in. I've been doing regular strength, conditioning and mobility stuff recently and like the sessions I'm doing.

I listened to the Marathon Talk interview with Pete Stables yesterday and now want to start lifting, but dont know where to start. I'm not a member of a gym, and prices round here are ridiculous.

I haven't listened to marathon talk for years, maybe I should start again! There's a thread for ladies who lift on here TeeBee, maybe check in there? I liked using kettlebells the last time I was a member of a gym so I've borrowed some from a friend and do just a short session two or three times a week at home.

Did the second session of my Strength Plan. I've basically split the exercises into 2 halves, with some (curls, delt raises) being repeated in both sessions. I'm aiming to get 3 weights sessions done most weeks (I've said that before!) so that I'll be repeating each exercise at least twice every 10 days.

So tonight was rower deadlift (like a deadlift but you lift the bar to chin height before dropping it), curls, delt raises, overhead press, Squats(I really hate squats!), heel lifts and some pull-ups.

God this stuff just takes ages to do doesn't it? All that waiting around.

Anyway, I've done it and it's doing me good so I'm going to keep doing it. Has anyone else got anything done this week?

This lunchtime, some standing core plus planks then some glute activation and strengthening. When I was lifting weights with a bar it took a while getting the plates on an off and calculating which I needed.

Swapping weight discs is a pain but it’s more the necessary rests between sets. Recommended minimum of 2 minutes up to a maximum of 5. So 5 sets of 5 squats takes a good 15 minutes, probably longer. Just lots of dead time.

This evening I’ve done upright row, bent over row, bench press, curls, delt raises, pull ups and a couple of resistance band exercises. It took ages and there’s no heating in the shed! I’m freezing.🥶
