Rubbish session under the bar today. Missed cleans left, right & centre. High hip kettlebell swings and Romanian deadlifts went fine, but then the front squats felt really heavy for 75kg, so ditched the lunges for today. It helped to remember Rob Orlando's acronym of STALTA, Strength Takes A Lifetime To Aquire. Tomorrow's another day, looking forward to lifting and shifting stuff already.

A short aerial yoga video for anyone who's interested I'm not promoting it, I'm just showing you how it involves strength work, and why I still ache from it 2 days later! m.youtube.com |

Did a good 80 mins yesterday, some general, but also some specific leg weaknesses that have caused me injuries in past (adductor / groin, hip flexors, lower pelvis, calf / Achilles eccentric drops etc.) I think I work harder with my own gym sesh (80 mins) than a bodypump class (60 mins)! G

I'm still in rest&recovery mode after Sunday's marathon but I'll be back on track next week, aiming for 3 sessions of core and other strength training per week. The 6 min kettlebell video was great, I did that during the taper when I shortened all training.

Much better session today 😀. Speed bench press, push press, snatch grip high pulls, kettlebell presses and pull ups. All targets achieved, which was nice.

I really want to try the aerial yoga. Haven't seen it round here. What I am about to sign up for is the local community gym, which is also a registered charity. Went over to check out the equipment yesterday and it's got everything covered machine-wise and also kettlebells, barbells, bosun ball, rowing machines etc. There's even a small spin class in the corner for £3, but no SPD pedals. It's £20/month which is such a reasonable charge and no tie-in. I'm not a great user of machines, but they can be handy for a bit of isolated strengthening every now and then I find. |

Wow, that aerial yoga looks impressive. The woman modelling it is super flexible. I'd love to give it a go but I have no idea where I could do that. I have never seen in it in any of the gym programmes around here. If I ever own a place that is big enough to have that installed I'd try.

tipsku - I don't think you would find it in just a regular gym. I go to a specialist place, that does aerial yoga, Pilates, and flying fitness, aerial hoop and pole fitness! All specialist fittings in the ceiling! Pilates was tough tonight as core muscles were still sore - the stretching stuff was nice though. |

We've got a hanging off the ceiling thing in the studio in our gym. It's for CRX or TRX or TX works or something. You do things that look like the crucifix that the guys do in gymnastics, on rings. That sort of malarkey. Can you tell I've never ever tried it (nor am I tempted to!) G
