We've all seen the sub 3hr, sub 4hr, sub 4.30hr threads and looked on in awe. I'm now at the age when I'm happy just to see the finish line, regardless of time taken. So this is a thread to celebrate the finish line, not the finish time. All welcome! |

What a good idea! Not only was I grateful to finish my first ever Marathon (Leeds, 1988) but amazed in equal measure!  |

I thought I'd put all this marathon nonsense behind me, ran my last one in 2015. Then I was successful in the 2020 London ballot, a bucket list race I had never been lucky enough to run. Cue The Covid and numerous cancellations and deferrals. I now plan to run my last marathon in April 2023. As it stands, I would be delighted to get to the start line, let alone the finish. Hoping in the next 15 months, I can recapture my mojo, shift a couple of stone and get in some sort of marathon shape* * yes I know "round" is a shape, but it's not the one I want. |

Similar situation here - last marathon was 2015 but I got a place in london 2020, deferred 2021 and now due to run it in Oct. Sadly I'm heavier and much less fit - need to get myself sorted and will be glad to just finish without walking too much! Dreams of a GFA place are long gone LOL

Love that photo swittle When is the next one westmoors? 15 months is plenty of time Nicholls595 - just don't keep telling yourself that you've got plenty of time because that way you'll run out of it! gribb0 GFA has never even entered my mind for me - I'm way way too slow to even consider it! We'll be doing a marathon on the same day as I'm with the fetch lot doing Chester. First one for this year is Boston (UK edition) which is on the same day as the US one - Easter Monday. It's my local event so it would be rude not to! |

A marathon thread where I can feel at home All of my marathon efforts have been slow, the last one being in 2014. Chester marathon on 2nd October this year will be my opportunity to have a decent stab at doing the training without having to juggle it with going to work. I'm hoping to enjoy it all a bit more this time round. |

minardi I'm doing North Dorset Villages on 1st May. It is my deferred, deferred entry! In 2020 I was hoping to get close to 4 hours but now I think 4:20 will be a challenge, so just completing it will be the goal

I'm assuming that will be a lumpy one westmoors? Anything with Dorset in its name implies lumpy! I've never managed a sub 4:30 so I am in awe of a 4:20!
