It does look as though there are a few more fixtures on the 1st / 2nd than I had appreciated. The 8th / 9th is fairly clear, presumably because it is rememberance sunday (thanks Barking) but that need not stop us - we can easily build in a minutes silence before we start. The 16th / 17th has St Neots half which has quite a large Fetchie field. The 22nd / 23rd is pretty clear but we are getting rather late on in the year and peoples thoughts will be turning towards Xmas. I would go for a Sunday so that people can help set up on saturday.
They key people are of course Mick and Phil. If you guys could let us know when is good for you then we'll work towards it.
There will always be some races that clash and some Fetchies out of the 15,000+ registered that can not make a particular date. I would love for everyone to be able to make it but frankly that isn't going to happen!

the problem with the 8/9th is that it clashes with the Sodbury Slog which a lot of the Midlands fetchies do as a bit day out every year.

Whatever day we choose we will clash with something. The Sodbury slog will rule out some local fetchies who might be useful team members. This big a comittee will never agree on anything, however democratic it is.
I hate to say this but we now seem to be anticipating organising races over multiple distances and with tresgtricted numbers - so far all the hobby horses you could name are being ridden (including my own one which is about impracticality) and we are no nearer a solution than before.
There are some potential major hurdles we haven't considered
- who will insure us as a bunch of unrelated oddballs organising a race? - who will be responsible for collecting and holding the money raised and disbursing it? - What affect will a large sum of money have on Mick's tax/benefit/life situation if simply dropped in? - Do we need charitable status?
This is not intended to be a negative post, but a practical one. Unless a group of people actually make the effort to get together and tackle these questuions we will all make well-meaning posts for ever.
Sadly I will be away for the next two days and may not be able to pick up this thread until Thursday night. Please don't flame me for this. I will be more than happy to put work in to make this happen and it is possible, but we have to get serious to make it happen.

As far as date is concerned we should see which days M n P are available in November and the have a poll! Every day will clash with something.
