cheers friend.... it 's just , in the past, i've been accused of being arrogant and patronising
they were a fellow runner, but their profile said beginner, so, i assumed that correct, i wished them well, etc.. only for them to accuse me etc, as they done many marathons
so, now-a-days i'm slightly careful

hey, Mickn'Phil, I really meant "hats off" genuinely... you're not at all arrogant, and I think so many of us here respect you for what you have (and continue) to achieve. The furthest I have managed on a track race was 10k, and I found that tough. As it was I managed to run 10.4 km in the end because I lost count and no-one told me to stop

I'd like to run it, if it was the right sort of distance for me. I also think that Oct/Nov would be a good time-not so many holidays, races etc.

I tried a 10K track race and felt like a hamster on a wheel. I hated it. I don't think mentally I was anywhere near ready for the experience and it has seriously put me off doing anything that involves the word laps

Hello
Really nice to see this idea getting backing.
I'm in - let me know when and where.
For closed course locations, all I know are the local Windsor rowing lake, the safari parks (woburn, longleat, whipsnade) and the race tracks - Brands, Silverstone, the top gear track,... - not much help - sorry!
If you wanted to try to piggy back on top of an existing half marathon, then I can talk to the people I know who help organise Richmond Half (or can talk to the guys who provide timing - http://www.sportsystems.co.uk/)
And if you need other stuff volunteered for, then let me know - work's busy right now, but I wanna make this happen so I can beat Mick again
