I'm trying to gather the enthusiasm to start posting here again, after Steve's death I really haven't had the heart. Tell you what, has everyone watched this episode of The Culture Show? It's really worth the effort and narrated by someone who really knows his stuff.

Try and identify all the records as they come along :-)

My memory of Steve is that he loved a bit of f**ky soul (sorry NE) - he would love this - with a capital S

Hey, I like that too :-) It's the disgusting James Brown stuff I don't like, along with the obscure and souless bilge that the hard-core funk people go for.

The stuff I like then NE ;-)

That T of P band is super tight whether it’s your genre or not

Steve wasn’t really into funk when younger and posted at least once that he’d learned about it from posts on various music threads on here. Music is a very broad church

Hello folks. I’m going to reprise something Swittle posted on 29 Jan - some blue-eyed soul from 1966. Steve found a lot of ace stuff while he was digging in the virtual crates and I’m going to search back though. This thread is so good. It’s my go-to on a Sunday aft when I’m cooking food for the first part of the week and making work lunch/es. Massive thanks to NE for setting it up and lovely memories of Steve being such a big part of it and throwing so much enthusiasm around. A lot of my friends (including my musician ones) don’t get me when it comes to my excitement about of music - thank goodness for my Fetch muso friends, both past and present, as we indulge each other. Keep on keepin’ on!
